Save Money On Medical Bills
Frequently Asked Questions
Why do I need the services of a Medical Billing Advocate?
If you are unsure about the accuracy of your medical bills, and/or if you have high medical bill debt and need help negotiating high hospital bills or reducing medical bills, it may be in your best interests to have a medical billing advocate review your bills and provide assistance to reduce medical debt.
How much will your service cost me?
We work on an hourly basis, a contingency basis (% of savings), or a hybrid of these two pricing models. For contingency work, we charge a percentage of the money that we save you . This includes credits to your accounts, discounts, adjustments, settlements, and inplicit/explicit savings, not just refunds.
How is business conducted with MBAR?
While we are always happy to meet personally with our clients, typically most of our work with clients are handled via phone, email and fax.
How many years can be reviewed?
Usually two years If money is still owed on an active account, we can sometimes go back three to four years.
Why can’t I do this myself?
Most people do not have the time, knowledge and experience that is critical for a successful outcome. Terminology and complexity make it almost impossible for many people to make sense of medical bills. Some people are uncomfortable negotiating medical bills and don't know how to get significant cost savings on medical bills.
What insurance issues do you handle?
We correct filing and coding/diagnosis errors, file appropriately documented medical claims appeals, and correct claims issues that are paid incorrectly. We get results because we speak the insurance companies’ language. We make sure you get the benefits to which you are entitled.
Can you help someone who is uninsured, unemployed or low income ?
Our familiarity with charity programs and other options enables us to guide you to the best solution for your particular situation.
